Re: good tone increases ability to play?
IMO Good tone is inspiring, bad tone is "Playable"
With me, the tone I´m getting kind of "directs" my playing style....if it´s brighter with lots of harmonics, I´ll be flying around throwing them everywhere.
Conversely, if it´s real dark and sludgy I tend to start playing doom metal and stoner-rockish riffs, or I´ll try to cop an old Sabbath lick I´ve never tried
Gimme less gain and a nice midrange spike, and I´ll tend to start playing bluesy stuff with lots of bends....
So for me, my tone "decides" what my fingers will prefer to do
Although right now about half the time I´m either playing unplugged or jamming on a classical.. much less distracting for woodshedding :newangel:
