i have a pair of yamaha sm15v monitors which sound great but they are heavy and bulky. im looking for something of comparable quality in a smaller package. i know yamaha makes sm10v and sm12v that would fit the bill but im wondering what else might be out there. suggestions? comments? rude remarks?

EV SX300. A bit pricy but well worth it in my opinion. I've had a pair for about 15 years and all they do is work brilliantly every time. I've used them as mains and wedges. The SX100 is a cheaper box and I've heard a few guys use them and thought them fine but I've never used one myself. The only thing is though trapezoid in shape they need to be tilted more to shoot right up at you if you have them at your feet. EV makes sturdy feet that will position them nicely...or you can just find/make something to tilt them.

Stage monitors?

MeyerSound are great and come in all sizes, but pricey...

Carvin PM speakers. I have some of the powered, neo speaker LM-15s and I LOVE them. About 1/3 th weight of my Peavey SP-2X mains, about 2/3s of the Yamaha. The passive are even lighter.

So happy I bought these.

looked at the meyer stuff... can you point me in the right direction? all i see for monitors is powered 2x10 and 2x12.

the sx300 looks ok, but is still bulkier than id like. these will be used on short small stages, if they had a 1x10 that might be great but i didnt see one

havent heard any carvin stuff in a while, it looks ok but i was less than impressed with their older guitar speakers so am a little gun shy even though the price/size/weight/power handling looks good

Looks like all the current Meyer rigs are, indeed, powered. Bummer!!

Yes, they did unpowered wedges back in the day.

Tannoy Reveal Passives. (Studio monitors). Regret selling mine. Will be my next purchase for sure.
