good wah pedals

My crybaby classic is good, but I had to replace the switch and the pot is very scratchy now. I'll probably sell it along with my POD 2.0 and Big muff.

Anyway what are some good ol' wah-wah pedals. I digged my classic's sound but I definately wouldn't mind paying same/more for something tweakable. like dunlop 535.

Anyway, is the vox wah good, reccomendations please.

Re: good wah pedals

I've always liked Morley's Wah pedals. I haven't used one in 20 years, but I had a lot of very reliable years with my Morley.

Re: good wah pedals

I have the Bad Horsie II, and swear by it! I havent had the luxury of playing many modded wahs, only some high-end pedals friends own, but the Bad Horsie II has a sweep mode that also has a boost. I use the standard mode for my humbuckers and have the contour mode boosted and scooped for singel coils. So no matter which guitar I am playing, with the step of a switch I have a bad-arse pedal. I have read similar threads earlier in the year, if you check back a few motnhs, there were some pretty good reviews on nearly each pedal in existence.

Re: good wah pedals

The Vox 847 is very good. But don't buy a new WAH....just send your old one to John...STRATDELUXER97. For less than the price of a new WAH he'll make your old one into the best WAH you've ever heard! Lew

Fulltone Clyde

I'm mentioning this although I haven't played through one, only because it hasn't been mentioned and it seems to be very popular amongst many people. Give it a look.

Re: good wah pedals

I vote for the Morley bad horsie line. I really like the automatic switching, and the tone is slightly better (less harsh highs), than my crybaby classic. I haven't played the Bad Horsie 2 yet, but if it sounds the same, and adds more options, it might be what you are looking for. Tonally I also like the Budda wah, but I love the auto switch on the morleys, so much I doubt I'll ever go back to a vox/crybaby style pedal.

I love my Fulltone Clyde...but I love my Vox 847 that John modded just as much! Really: just send your old Crybaby to John. Modding it will cost less than any new one and you'll get a better pedal than anything you can buy off the shelf except maybe a $250 Fulltone!
