Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Tele 4 way switch wired to Seymour Duncan drawing. Neck pup, no problem. Whenever selection includes bridge when I touch the strings I get a buzz.
Here is the drawing:

Here is the nasty reality:

Part of the reason it looks so gnarly is I have wired it nine ways from Sunday with a few different drawings.

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

I had a similar problem with a switch (on a tele, as it happens). It turned out there was too much build-up of solder that created what I would maybe call more of an intermittent crackle. I unwired the switch, used a braid to remove all the solder I added so there weren't any bumps, and then re-soldered the signal wires. It was important not to let the switch overheat...I've seen switches come apart if they are heated to high for too long.

I hope this helps.

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Try getting rid of the unnecessary solder and see if the ground is OK.

Think that's about it ;)

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

I will clean up the solder/wires and put back together. The thing that seems really strange is that the buzz is only with the bridge pup and it's ground goes directly to the volume pot, not in the switch wiring at all.

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Did you follow those sub-instructions about separately grounding the neck pickup cover?

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Have you got a good ground for the bridge itself?

Yes, that is the yellow wire on the pot. The black neck ground goes to the switch. Thank you for checking it.

Yes, I am going to try wiring the bridge hot and ground to a separate output jack and see if I still get a buzz.

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Problem corrected but the solution is more mysterious than the buzz.

Wired bridge to output jack separate from all other wiring, the buzz remained. Went thru every possible option I could think of and the buzz remained. Finally out of desperation (too strong a word for such a trivial thing but the best I could come up with) I did the unthinkable an wired the pup bakwords, black hot, white ground...yep, the buzz is gone. This defies all the color coded wiring diagrams and is even opposite of the neck wiring.

I am befuddled, if anyone can explain this bizarre phenomenon I would be extremely grateful.

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

Did you ever say what pickups you are using? You say it's the Duncan diagram but are both pickups Duncans? (Many stock Fender pickups are out of phase with Duncans)

Re: Got a Buzz - need wiring help

I'm using Fender Custom Shop Twisted Telecaster pups. The color codes I pulled up for them on Fender wiring diagram had black as ground and while as hot as well...odd
BTW, I really wanted to use my Fluence Greg Koch pups with the power bridge but scratched my head so much trying to think of a way I now have a bald spot. Ya just can't double up on stereo output jacks...or can you...
