Got a G&L Commanche today....

Its a "post Leo" and it was garbage....I really thought it would play like a dream....needed a good setup, but couldnt get it right, nut was too low buzzed like mad and the claw was run all the way to the body and the bridge still wouldnt stay down. I think it was a factory abortion that ended up at the pawn shop. Ive played a pre BBE one and loved it, but the quality has gone down.

was it the real deal or was it a tribute model?

I've owned several G&L's over the last few years and all of them have been very well finished off and set up, probably the best off the shelf actions I've played for under two grand - if you bought it used the blame for the poor condition might be the previous owner(s)?

In my experience, the Tributes are generally pretty comparable to the USA G&Ls as far as playability from the factory goes. The too-low nut might've been something put on aftermarket because of the previous owner...or it could've just simply been a real pooper to come out of the factory.

I dont know if it was a tribute....didnt say that anywhere, and Im sure the previous owners didnt help....It had 3 trem springs in it (all it would accept) and I could hardly get it to stay down with 10s on it.....I just really expected it to be a really nice player and it just wasnt.....Just not what I expected for 8+
