Hey people! Just wanted to stop in and say that i got my new 50's Esquire modded just where i want it and it turned out pretty darn cool!

I added a set of brass '52 bridge saddles, and also slapped in my trusty SD Broadcaster bridge pickup :) Now its much more like a 50's Esquire should be! I'll try to get some pictures up of my gear in the near future :)

Did you mention a custom wiring harness for your Esquire, with one position that bypasses the volume and tone controls? I'd like to hear more about that!

--Thanks!

This Esquire has totally stock wiring. The only mods i made was adding the better SD Broadcaster pickup, so it would be the same as any Esquire you could've bought 50 or so years ago :)

Well you just happen to have one of my dream guitars. I love Esquires so much that I re-did one of my teles and made it an "esquire." I can't wait to see the pics!

Thats pretty cool Tyler, i thought about doing that same thing with my Standard Tele, cause i just figured that Fender would never release any non-Custom Shop Esquires. But it just so happened that one day a couple months ago i decided to check out Fender.com to see what was goin on at Fender and there under their "New Products" was a brand new 50's Esquire. So right then i new where my next $600 was going towards. :) I also thought about buying a bunch of parts and building my own 50's Esquire, but then i'd probably have to settle for a Telecaster neck, and i'm pretty picky and i just didn't want to build an Esquire that said Telecaster on the headstock.

So what i'm trying to say here is that Fender made my day by putting an affordable, and cool Esquire back into their lineup. :)

From an earlier thread: "It is basically a standard tele with different wiring and no neck pickup.... BUT, the way the lead pickup is wired, you get a hotter lead sound than on a telecaster. In the switches back position, the bridge pickup is wired straight to the output jack which creates a more "biting" tone than a regular telecaster which has the lead pickup wired through the tone pot, volume pot, switch, etc..."

I checked the wiring diagram here and it looks like the back position bypasses the tone control but not the volume control:

In any case, it sounds like a lot of fun!

P.S. We are all dying to know what is under the pickguard... a hole for the non-existent neck pickup? It would be cheaper for Fender to just use a tele body than to make one especially for the Esquire.
