Got my Analogman KoT yesterday...sweet

So, after a LONG wait, my King of Tone finally got here yesterday. The shipping was fast, but I was on the wait list since Dec 06.

Good news is, the pedal sounds great! It doesn't have as much gain as I thought it would, but I've got plenty of distortion boxes. What it does do is give you great control over how much grit you have on your sound and is really transparent; sounds great for the 'Texas Blues' sound.

I A/B'd the pedal with some other pedals (like the Jemini) and felt that this unit adds gain but without adding alot of mud or losing alot of frequency response.

All in all, I think it was worth the wait. Anyone else like these?

Mine never leaves my board!

Glad you got one...I know they are long wait but I think they are worth the wait! Waiting sure beats paying $400+ on Ebay!

Since I got the Klon, I've found myself using that more often, but I'm going to need to pull the KoT off the shelf again and listen with fresh ears.

Well he has two old TS-808s...and they kinda do the same thing with ease...so the Klon is out of the door....not because it was bad or anything like that.....just redundant.
He just wanted something slightly different and with a more old feeling to it...defently got that....

have you messed with the internal trimmers at all?

I read this before I left and said, ugh just what I needed, more overdrive pedal gas.

Then I had a gig with my AC Booster and I was like....yeahhh, my tone is pretty ballin' right now I don't need anymore stinkin dirt pedals hehe

No, I haven't. I wanted to try it out with the default settings, get to know it a little bit, before changing them. The clean boost is nice, but I like it mostly (for now) to boost the gain from the right side OD channel. Once I get a feel for it, I may make the right side 'distortion' and set the left side to 'overdrive' and not use the clean boost at all, but I haven't gotten there yet.

That's what I do...the red channel is set to Distortion and the yellow channel is set to OD, I've done away with the Clean side for now and I leave the trim pots all the way off...the trimmers are a treble boost that works differently than the surface tone controls, a nice touch but I have found that I like them off for the most part however now and then turning them up just a tick adds a nice sizzle to single notes.

i have both of mine set to the clean setting. i use my compressor at the end of my chain so it regulates the volume. That way i can have one of the clean sides cranked all the way in volume and about 3/4 the way in the drive setting. I use that as my OD and then other clean side as a clean boost. I absolutely love the way it sounds. Its a killer pedal for sure. It will never be leaving my board.

What amp are you driving with it?

about 8 of 10 times im playing at home so its my modded blues jnr. killer little amp. I have it set really clean on the volume and then crank the master a bit.
