Got my Custom/59 pups in LP but not what I thought

I got my LP Standard hooked up 59 neck and SH-5 in the bridge. The Custom I dig the tone but not enough hi's, just slightly lacking there. My original BB Pros where too bright.

The 59 in the neck is good. I dig that. But I thought the Custom in bridge would be more ballsier? Maybe I need to raise it more?

Any thoughts or input? :smack:

Try raising it a hair- SH-5's are supposed to have lots of highs! You'll know when you've gone too far when the pup starts clipping & sounding like CRAP.

I've heard the Custom described a lot of ways, but lacking in highs is not one of them. My guess would be that moving it closer to the strings as suggested will cure that issue. I would be suprised if it didn't.

No doubt, Jeff. The Custom I use in my Les Paul screams, although not as high as, say, as a JB...but definitely a good lead pickup.
Raise 'er up a hair or two and let us know how it sounds.

Keano, I had the Custom in my LP and have it in a Dean. It is a dark and thick pickup! I like it, but the BB pro seems to work better. I don't find the BB Pro that bright.

Worry about getting the balls from the amp. What amp are you running? I can get balls galore from any pickup with the right amp. I bet the Pearly Gates would kill in your LP...
