i got my 1992 soldano hot rod 50 man this thing is cool nice tone iwas plaing it through my vht 1x12 cab i can't wait to pug it into my mesa 2x12 cab !!! blue snakeskin rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool score! You should order the matching Soldano 4-12, so you have a matching set, then part with one of your cabs.

I saw a Hot Rod 50 XL with Mike Soldano's signature on the back
on Ebay a few weeks ago. I was real tempted to get it for the price of $700, but stopped myself. Nice amp!
I think if I were to buy one, I'd get the Hot Rod 50 Plus, so I could have 2 channels. Snakeskin blue sounds awesome!
Especially, against the white chassis and gray knobs!

You got snakeskin blue? That's killer man!! I bet you're gonna love that amp. I'm with GJ on getting the matching Soldano 4x12.

Let the fun begin! I got the gray snakeskin on mine (mainly because it was the only one they had..but it looks great). Enjoy the tone!

thanks guys i dig it !!!!!!!!!! i want to see how it sounds with the mesa recto cab before i go for a soldano cab i was looking for a 2x12 cab !:)

HotRod sounds awesome and it think it'll sound awesome through the mesa. I'd like to hear JB -> HotRod -> Mesa Cab. It must be tone heaven :D

It has an FX loop, right?

I love highgain halfstacks with a Nanoverb or other FX unit in the loop, for playing at reasonable levels. Any unit with a send, mix, and return knob on it will allow you to have the amp turned up, then use the FX unit's output knob to bring the volume down to a crawl. For live, you can either run the amp bone dry, or use it with the Fx unit's reverb set real low, just to add some air.

Try it on your Hotrod 50!

i will pust some pictures this week end ! hey gearjones it does have a loop! i might have to try the nanoverb trick it sond like a cool idea!

Any amp with a versatile preamp section and an FX loop can
really take advantage of a Nanoverb or similar.
It's the best way for turning a halfstack into a bedroom practice rig.

I keep the gigging amps at my rehearsal studio, but my
sweet lookin Jubilee stack stays at home next to my Vox Valvetronix head on the Jubilee's straight cab.
With the Jubilee's volume on 6 and gain anywhere, I use the Nanoverb's output as my volume control. That way, the Jubilee has a cranked pre & power section, but the power amp is only seeing a reduced signal. I get a huge high gain rock sound with reverb at a practice amp level. Sounds killer through the 4-12,
and doesn't shatter glass!
