Gotoh alloy bridges for Les Pauls - anyone tried?

I have to replace the bridge on my LP (posts into inserts type) and there are quite a few variations available (I don't want a hipshot baby grand type mod). I got a slightly "sweeter" sound when I fitted an ally tailpiece, so I am interested to know if the alloy gotoh bridges give anything different in terms of tone (or take something away!) as they are quite pricey but have a lot of adjustment.
As I'm quite (very?) heavy handed, are they prone to distortion (sic) and bending (sorry) under load. As far as I know, most LP bridges are made of low grade "pot metal" steel and tend to sag with time in my experience, so are the Gotohs worse/same/better?
Any other recommendations/comments gratefully received.

I haven't used the Gotoh bridge, but I did put Gotoh LW tailpieces on three of my Les Pauls, and really liked the results, for spending such a minimal amount of money. I ordered mine through Stewart-MacDonald.

I think if I were looking at replacing a bridge, though--I'd probably replace it with a TonePros locking style.

TonePros have great bridges and tailpieces. I use them on all my Les Pauls. For whatever its worth, Gotoh makes the bridges for TonePros (in fact, some of the earlier TonePros models are actually stammped Gotoh on the bottom). If your on a budget and don't want to spring for the TonePros Aluminum Tailpiece, you can always get the Gotoh Alum. TP and put a set of TonePros locking studs on.

I stock TonePros in my store if your interested.

That's what I did and it works great. I don't know if there is increased sustain or not, but changing strings is a breeze. The aluminum does sound better than the hunk of junk that was in there before IMO.

I will say thay I have the tailpieces screwed all the way down to the body and top wrap. I did notice some increase in sustain. Not night and day, but somewhat better.

Thanks people, I've already got the tailpiece in aluminium, it's the bridge I'm interested in, are the Tonepros bridges available in ally also?
