i plan on using a tom bridge with string though in my build. the gotoh is three times cheaper than the tonepros. is there that much difference????

Re: gotoh vs tonepros

If you want the resonance and tone of a real '59 Les Paul go for the aluminum Gotoh.

If you want a slightly deeper and more solid tone go for the Tone Pros.

I use the Gotoh on my Les Paul.

FWIW, Gotoh manufactures the bridges for TonePros, or at least did at one point.

Re: gotoh vs tonepros

I use the Gotoh lightweight aluminum tailpiece with the Tonepros locking posts. The tone of my SG '61 reissue did get noticeably brighter with the bridge swap and the tonepros locking studs are way convenient when changing strings. Sustain seems about the same to me as the stock bridge.. maybe a smidge more.. maybe my imagination!

Re: gotoh vs tonepros

how would you describe "the resonance and tone of a real '59 Les Paul"?
