The sad part is that after you buy one, then put the money into it to make it a decent playing and sounding guitar, you could have bought a real one. Maybe not the $3000 Jem, but one of the intermediates like the 555 that will probably play and sound better. I've only bought one Chinese copy (S-G) just to see what the fuss was all about, and I love the guitar, but I had to replace everything--tuners, pickups, all the electronics, the nut--for what I put into it, I could have bought an S-G faded and kept it in the USA.

I know what Chinese guitars are like, ALL of mine are chinese made!
can be hit and miss but they are getting better by the day.
Book marked! they do a good selection of lefties which I shall research thoroughly.
Who cares what it's called and if it's a rip off? if Its nice to hold and play and looks for your taste, what does it matter?
A lot of criticism towards these things can be caused by brand snobbery

Exactly. I might buy one if it said "Bill's Chinese Guitars" on the headstock. But I'm not going to support fraud. Esp. because some kid down the line might buy it as the real thing and get ripped off.
