Hi,
There is a guy you gotta see. This looks like the correct forum.
Go to youtube and look for "People Get Ready by Kostis "(J.Beck cover).
I don't know how to move clips around and computers are still new to
me, relatively speaking.
Whenever I get to thinking I'm real good, I find a guy like this
out of nowhere, not famous, kicks my ass.
All the best,
Steve Buff.

Re: gotta see

GV, the songwriter was actually Curtis Mayfield.

He was a stalwart veteran of the Chicago soul music scene, in groups like the Impressions (whom the song was originally written for); one former member of the group was Jerry "The Iceman" Butler. Butler's first hit after leaving the group was "He Will Break Your Heart" (a/k/a "He Don't Love You Like I Love You").

His songs for the Impressions included "It's All Right", "Keep On Pushin' ", "Amen" (an arrangement of the old gospel melody), "Choice of Colors" and "We're A Winner".

As a solo artist, Mayfield wrote music for films like "Super Fly" (including the hit title song and the tune "Freddie's Dead"), "Claudine" (featuring the song "On and On" by Gladys Knight & the Pips), "Sparkle" (the hit "Giving Him Something He Can Feel" by Aretha Franklin) and "Let's Do It Again" (the title song performed by the Staple Singers).

He was also the owner of his own record labels over the years, including Mayfield, Windy C, and Curtom.

He was paralysed in a stage accident in Brooklyn NY in 1990, and left this world in December 1999.

As reported by the British magazine Mojo, the song "People Get Ready" was voted one of the Top 20 Best Songs of All Time by an all-star panel of music industry professionals including Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson, songwriter Hal David, and others.
