Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

I have used the equivalent version for Fender import hardtail Stratocaster bridge. Worked fine.

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

Hi bud, Yeas i have on the ibanez sabre i modified for a mate. The whole graphtech floyd system is great.

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

IMHO it works just like any other saddle. Until the slot is without scratches or dents, they all work the same.
I don't understand why they try to sell teflon coated saddles as if this will solve all the issues. The saddle slot and surfaces are not that problematic on Floyd block saddles, the most troubling parts is when the pivoting stud seizes. If I was about to redesign a Floyd Rose saddle, I'd put teflon or nyoil bushing into the pivot hole and then press the stud in. The pivoting action is much more crucial when you use the tremolo than string landing back into the slot after a divebomb. And it enables to fine tune the tremolo too.

Yeah, a string might bind on the slot itself too, but that can be easily solved with files and sandpaper instead of buying teflon coated saddles.

Yeah that's all well and good but have you ever used any graphtech floyd saddles? They ****ing kick ass.

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

Tried the ghost version w/piezocrystals embedded. The quality is nice but they sound kind of dark, a bit like coated strings. The sustain is excellent, and the radius is wider (16", I think) than the german Floyds. Anything wrong with the Schaller saddles?

Wow... that's the kind of passion I was looking for

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

Hey :-)

Do you remember if they actually rose the strings higher off the body than the standard saddles?

Good question, I might be mistaken but i think they are a lot flatter than original style saddles. Find a tech drawing online and compare them.

So yeah what is wrong with th3e current ones?

Nice review.

My Schaller saddles are fine.

I recently stumbled onto these saddles as I very often read about and search for mods and upgrades etc...

The trem itself has a Killer Guitar Components big brass block and brass claw.

I love fiddling and fart ass'n around

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

haven't used the floyd ones, but I do have a set of the string saver original saddles on my strat and they are friggin awesome. Graphtech are a fantastic company with great products, and I trust them implicitly.

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

They sure look beautiful. I still have to adjust the action a little. A little higher on the gbe and lower on the ead. Nothing hard just basic stuff.

I'll fix her up properly on the weekend and have a decent jam.

I almost had the dilemma of the century.

I used the Schaller screws at the beginning (not the supplied one's) to lock the strings in place.

When I got to the last saddle, the Schaller screw broke off in my new graph tech saddle leaving me about 1mm to grab onto to and remove the broken screw. Aaaahhhhrrrr.....

One and a half hours later and 10kg lost (from the stress), all is ok and most importantly..... no scratches.

Update coming soon...

The results are in...

These are far far far far... superior than the stock Schaller saddles.

They are larger in mass, made so well, look the part, fit this fretboard perfectly, allow me to have the most silky smooth action you can imagine and grab the string end extremely well with a small hidden lip.

I can't tell any difference with the sound/tone, but keep in mind that this guitar already had a KGC big brass block and brass claw.

I rate these saddles at 100%.

My guitar seriously feels a lot better!

Re: Graph Tech Floyd Saddle

and that's why Graphtech is one of my most favoured guitar-parts companies :headbang:
