Great help i received

I received fantastic help getting to what I believe will give my tele my personality.

But having searched for days I have yet to find a wiring diagram.

Any help would be appreciated........

A 5-way super switch is the way to control the following;

JB Jr. & SSL-4 tapped

I’d probably want:

full SSL-4
tapped SSL-4
tapped SSL-4 w/ split JB Jr.
full SSL-4 w/JB Jr.
full JB Jr.

Id have to hand draw it and take a pic.
But what I would do is a standard CRL 3way. And 2 push pull pots one for each pickup as coil taps.

Really, I had thought about PP pots but had thought in a rush it may cause a bit of confusion.

What is your reasoning for this.

Could have any tone option. 7 total
And dont gave to mess with the fancy switch.
And down the road a common 5 way is usually a behind the counter replacement part at the local shop.
Not to mention its cool having PP pots.

You can get those 5 sounds with the "half" super switch AllParts and others have. You do the bridge split the same way as the tap - changing the hot not the ground. Could be noisier though.

I mention it because most super switches won't fit in a Tele hot dog control cavity without some routing. Its tricky to do and keep hidden under the control plate. There are a few narrower versions that fit a Tele like this one All Parts Super Switch with the lugs facing inward not outward.

The 3 way with push pulls for split and tapped idea has the bonus of more combos like either pickup full with the other split/tapped.

If you want to keep just the 5 sounds you said this is a straightforward way to do it.

Take this standard Tele diagram. Replace the 3 way switch with the 2 pole 5 way wired as shown on the right. Neck black and Bridge White+shield need to be grounded. The JB Jr color codes are inverted to get the inner North coil on the split in phase with the neck.

What are we loosing?
I was just getting into the idea of PP pots.
I'm a perfectionist, I have redone other things multiple times until its perfect.
I'm trying to avoid it this time.

With a separate PP to split each pickup, you could do Neck tapped and Bridge full. Can be good for clean breakdowns in heavier music. Also Neck full and Bridge split, but that might not be as useful.

Keep in mind, in practice, it is harder to get to sounds that need 2 moves to get to- put the switch in a particular place, now move over to the knobs to grab and pull. Not easy if you have quick transitions. I'd rather wire a 5 way switch with sounds I'd actually use.

i dont mind two moves if they can be done quickly, and more than that and its a no go. for example flip the 5way from neck to bridge and hit a mini switch to go from parallel to series can be done very quickly without missing a beat

I get ya, I agree, the switch you have as 54321, flip it and your at 12345.
Doesn't your diagram of the 5way include a series to parallel position?
Or do I have to add a PP pot to be used with the tone pot?

I'm trying to absorb all this.

In that drawing the switch positions will be like a Tele if you're looking at it on a stand. Up is 5 Neck, down is 1 Bridge. Its numbered opposite next to the switch because that's how the terminals are laid out with the pivoting lever.

This Half Super Switch couldn't do series-parallel for the bridge. The full Super Switch can. The diagram was a way to do your 5 sounds with the half switch which is also half the price if that matters.

Yes I agree, but finding a wiring diagram of what i specified is daunting.
In addition I don't know if i made it clear, i would also like them to be in series or parallel if i want them to be.
All using the 5 way superswitch.

Just to throw my hat in, if you absolutely have to have all of those sounds, this is one of the times I would suggest a push pull and a 3-way switch.

There is no intuitive way to get those sounds on a 5-way, and the push pulls would likely not be tweaked that much in a live situation (if it were to be played the way I play mine)

I appreciate all the thought and help.
But I would have thought with the amount of members more would have thrown ideas out.

I think with the below wiring & pickups it would cover everything from Bob Dylan to Johnny Thunders.

Any suggestions?
I enjoy the help, especially when it makes me think.

This is the final product.
Switch position numbered.

5-way super switch, using the Fender 099-2251-000 to keep it as much Fender as I can.
  1. SSL-4 Full
  2. SSL-4 (tapped)
  3. SSL-4 (tapped) + JB Jr. (split)
  4. SSL-4 Full + JB Jr. (humbucker)
  5. JB Jr - Full

I think you have 5 good usable distinct sounds that cover a lot of ground like you said. It may be that people aren't picking up on what you're asking because the thread title doesn't sound like a question.
