Just found this soundclip page that demos the Double-D pickups in the Hamer Talladega. The bonus prize is that the guy doing the demo is Greg V... one tasty mother-plucker!

Soundclips

I knew Greg is a real Tele guy, so his attraction to this guitar says a lot.

Just stunning clips.
I tried to record some from mine, now I can go away in shame....

How did you get one? I've emailed several sites that advertise them, including one that even showed a price but they said that they didn't have any in stock yet. Why do slimeball dealers bait you with pricing when they don't even have the goods. I should know better beacause I've heard that dealers who can get them are asking top price, and people will pay it to get one.

hey CCC, of course! For some reason I didn't remember that was you. Awesome collection of Hamers in that thread. I'd heard that Hamer was quite popular in Europe in the 1970s especially Germany and England, so I guess that there's a lot of vintage ones to choose from too.

Re: Greg V Soundclips Talladega/Double-D

It's drying up very fast over here. The popularity was mostly in the eighties and early nineties, lots of shredders available.
I am mostly interested in the sustain block models and it's getting pretty hard to find one in good shape.
I have a '77 and a '78 sunburst and an '78 Standard and they were all offered to me, as I was one of the few Hamer collectors over here.
I even didn't had to search for them.

But for now I consider my collection complete.
These are my oldies :

very nice! I like the explorer the best of all of them. That V is very cool as well.

What year is that one with the three coil pickup? I remember seeing the guy from the Pretenders with a red one like that.

Prototype I from '81.
Andy Summers had something to do with the design of it.
Lovely guitar with a distinctive sound in the middle position.

And ... it has the sustainblock simular to the Talladega...(to get back to the original post)
