Gretsch 5245 HELP

Hey everyone. i'm new on this forum and i'd like to have your help because you have more experience.
I'm about to buy a Gretsch electromatic 5245 double cut but i have a doubt: it comes with two gretsch's mini humbuckers and i want to know if i can replace them by other type of pickups like humbuckers, because i noticed that a metal plate is around the pickup, fixing it (see the image) (http://www.bradpage.com/images/guitars/Gretsch_DoubleJet.jpg).
if that's not possible, can i put seymour duncan's mini humbuckers SM1 and SM3?

really not sure... it would be a good idea to check out the pickup cavities next time you have the strings off, and also to measure the dimensions of the original pickups and rings; then you can check the diagrams and confirm if the duncan minis will fit the rings.

not being able to mount the new pickups on the existing gear is usually the problem with this kind of thing... hopefully you'll be able to fit minis in their place.
