Ground Noise using an ABY or a Chorus to split signal

I am using an ABY to two preamps and I am getting a lot of ground noise. I am getting this whether I use the ABY to split the signal, or a chorus pedal. What the heck can I do about this, and is it normal? It is really profound on the high gain channels. The cords are fine, and if I unplug and just run one preamp. Dead silent! No ground humm.

Dunno, what kind of ABY box are you using?

I think you're right, but some AB boxes are a little noisier than others, especially going into a preamp.

Not quite sure what you mean by ground differential. The ABY is a Morley. I get the same problem when I use the Boss Chorus pedal too. I have a ground lift on both preamps that I use. It helps, but the noise is still too much. Looking at getting a Voodoo Lab amp switcher to see if it fixes the problem. I would like to see if it is something else though, before I drop the loot.

You need to take one cable and disconnect the ground on one end only. Sounds strange but it'll probably correct the problem you are having with hum. You probably have a ground loop. Lew

I have both power cords running into a condioner. I will try one of those 3 to 2 prong convertors on one of the power cords. That should take the ground out of the loop. I will also flip the lifts off, to see if it helps. That might be making some type of a internal loop. I'm not sure exactly how the ground lift works.
