Grounding Problem?

Hi

Wonder if anyone can help

Ive just installed a new Schaller Bridge on my guitar and wanted to check if this is normal

I had to put new bridge posts into the guitar to fit the bridge and noticed that in one of the holes there was a ground wire......This should be connected ok.....

How can i test if it is?

When I have my amp on quiet and dont touch the strings then there is no buzz but when I have it on my gain channel there is feedback (hardly any buzz) until I touch the strings...

What i want to know is that if the guitar was not grounded then would touching the strings still stop it?

Is this normal?

Thanks

Re: Grounding Problem?

if i read above right, after you changed the bridge you are getting buzz when you touch your strings? ? ? ?

if you are getting buzz with you hands off the guitar and not when you touch the metal strings and bridge that is pretty much normall... you are the ground in the system... that ground wire you saw in the hole is to connect you to the ground..

Re: Grounding Problem?

You should get a multimeter and use it to test the connection. Put one test lead on your ground wire and the other on the bridge. There should be zero resistance.
