Grover, I'll kick the crap out of you...

Frito's Better Half
So, guess what I just spent an hour doing? Climbing into the attic to pull out the original "boxed" back tuners with Rotomatic style buttons that came on my 77 Takamine to replace...

GROVER STA-TITES.

I'd been having problems with them since I first installed them months ago. I purchased them used from a fellow on the Acoustic Guitar Forum, and he'd claimed they worked no problems (with hundreds of positive feedback on ebay and the forum). The brass gears wore out something terrible, and now won't tune.

Sooo... What does this teach us? Sometimes the cheapest made parts are the best. I'm cool with it, kinda like it being back to original.

Re: Grover, I'll kick the crap out of you...

Wasn't Grover one of the Sesame Street muppets? Why would you want to hurt him? He's just trying to run a business in his post-S-Street career.

Re: Grover, I'll kick the crap out of you...

Well, if he'd just stayed on the show instead of using second rate brass, I wouldn't have an issue with him.

Re: Grover, I'll kick the crap out of you...

The Grover Company sucks to try to get warranty work done. They are the cheapest bastids in the USA. I got a bad set that was binding. Sent the tuners to them and they claimed nothing was wrong. They made me pay the postage back too.

I told them I would replace their tuners with Ping, as they worked a lot better than their brand. That pissed him off...really! We got into it over the phone. :)

I got stung on some used tuners once, I guess it's a lesson learned lol.........
