Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one. He seemed pretty busy so I don't know whether or not he'll be able to use the design I want, but we'll see how it goes.

I'm thinking of going with a D20: Classic voice, half power switch, effects loop and boost. Oh, and gigantic aluminum knobs.

And a Big "Thank you" to jon the art guy. He gave me some solid info.

CONGRATZ on a great 'new' brand !

I would love to have a Sunn Model T voiced amp from him.
And a Laney Klipp . . . and an Electric/Matamp HyBrid !

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

is he building those out of Jet City amps and old unworking amps? scary thought.

I guess I really just want a matamp gt1 without paying for it; thats how come I clicked on his site

They're all re-purposed. He doesn't simply fix busted amps; it's all new circuitry and everything.

Congrats man. I wish I could give you first hand experience, but you'll have to settle for that yourself. The sn122 voicing is hot, but I would jump on any of his amps, especially of it had the effects loop. Congrats again!

Thanks, man. I probably won't place the official order until Friday. I guess he only accepts pay-pal so I'll have to set that up to. Before then I'll be taking a hard look at the sn122.

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

A buddy of mine had an Andromeda, he liked it a lot, but sold it to get an OR. He plays Sleep/Black Pyramid style doom.

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

I keep youtubing them. I saw an unpack vid and I wasn't as much for the tone the guy got with his Marshall cab, although I still liked it. Whatever rutting hellbeast of a cab Mr. Hovercraft uses really snarls. He put up a vid of a SN right around 122 and the thing is just a slobbering monster. I'm assuming it's an oversized Orange-style cab.

This one's a slant cab. The cab from SN122 is a straight...I dunno. They aren't just your run of the mill Behringer 4x12 cab though. That's one of the reasons I'm afraid to want to buy one; I don't have have a cab at all.

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

keep in mind doom music has a lot to do with the way of playing, and tones can be copped with a fuzz pedal that is usually used in demos of 'doom amps'

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

Yea, Hovercraft makes a pedal for that too. He hasn't in a while though...busy with amps.

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

I did not place the order yet. I spec'd the amp but got hung up on the voicing options. Most of the tones on Sn31 were the bomb in my opinion. I think I'd like more orange in the gain stage though. My lack of general amp knowledge is hindering my progress.

Re: Guess who got in touch with Mr. Hovercraft

I was just talking to Frogman about these, he has an Andromeda and loves it. One of these is more than likely in the future, I just need to play the waiting game until the right one is in production.
