Guild HB-1

Hi! I joined here years ago but I don't know if I ever posted, or if it's just been years since I did post, but I'm back to ask some advice…
Anyone know anything about the HB-1's that Duncan made for Guild? Know where to get a set? Or a set of original HB-1's? I've got a '71 Starfire IV I want to restore - when I bought it the PuPs were not original. Thanks!

Re: Guild HB-1

The Guild electrics from the 90's that used SD Humbuckers used 59's.

Vintage Guild HB-1's are different, your Starfire should have HB-1's and the only real way to get any these days is to search Ebay until you land a set.

If you are unhappy with the pickups in the Starfire right now then i'd nail down a set of good Duncans...for a Starfire a set of 59's would be a fine place to be and just use those until you can get a good set of HB-1's

Re: Guild HB-1

:thanks: Right now it has a set of Seth Lovers in it and while I'm very pleased with the tone, I'd sure like to score a set of era correct HB-1's. Not because I think they'd sound better (they might), but just for the sake of getting it back to original. If it sucks I can always resale the HB-1's or keep them and install them when I sell it.
The original HB-1's were a little longer than an average 'bucker so regular mounting rings and PuPs don't quite fit. I had to redrill holes for the standard mounting ring once I lined them up under the strings. There's a slight gap arond the edges of the ring. It doesn't effect the sound or playability but it does effect it aesthetically. I know it's nit-picking, but I guess I'm a completist...
