Guitar things that cost more than they should....

No thanks. . ...... I'll beat up my own gear.

This **** is insane.

Places like Sweetwater sell these types of things all the time. The market can bear charging that much, and people with the money and rock star dreams are absolutely willing to pay that much, too. Makes it hard for us musician-types.
But...this is a great time to be a guitar player. You don't have to spend a ton of money to get a great guitar.

Buy used whenever possible. 90% of people who buy guitar gear for the first time are not playing a year later. Of course, a lot of that is entry-level gear, but still, if you look, there are deals to be found. The good thing is that most of these people never touched the instruments, so they are in great shape.

Sweetwater has “expertly trained sales engineers ready to help”? If I’m looking for gear don’t want an engineer…the small local shops around here have musicians helping customers. The entire ad is just weird!

I would argue that anything with a Fender logo on it is way overpriced. A sanded 2x4 with a bolt on neck, covered in plastic and cheap single coils isn't worth more than $50 to me.

Ha ha ha

I bought a strap on Sweetwater, and I got the "If I can help you in any way" email from my sales engineer. I emailed back saying the strap didn't come with a manual, and if he had one I would appreciate it. He called me, making sure I wasn't actually that stupid, and when he confirmed I was kidding,he said I cracked up the entire office and made their day.

I've made purchases through Sweetwater, and they have been great. I won't buy a $10k guitar from anyone, though. I did just buy a guitar from Sweetwater (NGD thread incoming), and I got the several customary 'Hey bro, that you for that purchase, dude' calls and emails after.

If I'm spending $10k for a brand new guitar, it's not gonna be one made to someone else's specs.

I have no hesitation to call a manufacturer of a line of guitars I like and request one spec'd the way i want it. All they can say is no

Or some insane price
Usually not $10k, ever

I have several unique Ehdwuld guitars here now

Love em

I'm too lazy to go dig out my Fender history book, but wasn't Leo's first build, essentially a 2 x 8 that he bolted a neck to? Or somesuch?

Or maybe a piece of a railroad tie.

I'm pretty sure they all started that way, it's just that most of the other companies' designs have evolved.
