Guitar wiring question

Hey everyone. Hope you're all doing great :). I was just wondering if anyone could possibly give a list of all the connections made for the guitar wirings. I am getting a guitar built, and i realized there needs to be a connection to the trem claw on my floyd rose. Where does that wire come from?

Re: Guitar wiring question

it's the bridge ground wire(the one that makes your guitar quit buzzing with distortion if you touch your strings and/or bridge), often stuck to the back of a pot. personally, i just make sure the back of the pots are grounded together along with the switch and output jack.

Re: Guitar wiring question

ahh yea but i mean. like, is it just some random wire? cuz i have no other wires for connection, so if i take it to like guitar center or something to be put together, do i need to provide them with the wires so they can connect the trem claw to the pot?

no, it's not a random wire. i just told you what it's for and so did JohnJohn.:)

Re: Guitar wiring question

Just give them a Yard of Yellow/Green wire of the appropriate guage, and say "Make sure it's well grounded".

Even the GC guys should know what that means!

Re: Guitar wiring question

no no, i dont mean its purpose. i mean where does it come from. i know the connection. but i do not have the wire with any of the parts. do i have to give guitar center the appropriate wire or will they provide the ground wire to make the connection do u think?

Re: Guitar wiring question

it´s just any old piece of wire that happens to by lying around. Insulated can be nice depending on how exactly it will lie in the cavity, but not essential. That said I´d think that any tech that works in a professional environment should have a spool of hookup wire lying around anyway. But it´s also GC we´re talking about, and there are many horror stories.

BTW, if you´re using hum canceling pickups (Humbuckers, stacks or actives) and the instrument is properly shielded, you can often omit this wire completely.

Re: Guitar wiring question

ahh true. what would be the best wire to get? cuz i just want to make sure everything is top quality with this guitar :D

Re: Guitar wiring question

do u think they would be able to provide the wire for me? cuz the guitar tech is a separate guy not actually working for guitar center. He's a separately hired guy who does his work independently, but is really good apparently
