guitarists.. too much hype?

u know, ive been listenin to a whole bunch of random metal bands, and some of the best songs ive heard come from bands i NEVER hear... and they all seem to have EXCELLENT guitarists, true its the 80's and u HAD to have a monster guitarists... so what are some of yalls no name fav's?

I also find it useful to scan the share folders of people who already have this type of music, just to see what else they might have. If I don't recognize it, I'll download it and check it out.

Detune a guitar until it's so low you can barely make out key changes, run it through something like a Big Muff or some sort of synth-fuzz, then play chords that drone for four or five seconds, then play a sub-sonic riff at about 30bpm followed by more drones.

And that's the "lead" guitar. The "rhythm" guitar either matches the lead, or plays chords that drone, oscillate, or feedback for as long as 30 seconds in some places. Everything is drenched in delay and reverb.

There's also a bass and synth....they're being run through fuzz/dirt boxes, delay, and 'verb as well I believe.


It's not something I can sit an listen to, but I will run it in the background when I'm doing other things.

I actually like monster magnet. Big Basic powerchords. Its easy to play, easy to get into. Not much thinking envolved actually, good for warm ups when your jamming along.
