Guitars with standard duncans

I want to try all these things.... CC, JB, Custom, Screamin Demon, Distortion, '59, all of them. Except I can't afford all of them. Would guitar center stock any guitars (or are there any guitars) that come with any of these standard so I can get a good feel for their tone? Thanks.

Re: Guitars with standard duncans

Most guitars that come with stock USA Duncans (Jackson, ESP, etc.) come with a JB/59 set. If you want to try a pair of 59's, try a Hamer Studio, Hamer Monaco Elite Mahogany, Hamer Artist Mahogany or Korina (not the Artist Standard or Custom, those come with Seth Lovers). Custom-Custom/Custom, try a Hamer Monaco Elite. Screamin Demon, try one of the ESP Lynch models. There was a Schecter or two that had a Distortion in the bridge, can't remember which one, though.

Great topic! I'd like to hear more about this too. Great idea Boneslaw!

+1 to all the guitars listed. and add yahama to the list. the higher AES and pacifica models have SD. dun know abt the specifics for all, but an AES i saw had a JB in the brigde and a "generic" neck pup.

SH-12 in ESP and LTD Lynch models, Custom (or maybe a Custom Custom?) in one of the Washburn V guitars (not a dimebag model) and also in the Fernedez Ravelle signature series (the guy from velvet revolver) SH-4 and '59 in the Schecter Blackjack guitars.

As soon as you switch guitars, you may as well stop comparing, because a guitar´s natural tone colors the final product much more than the pickup. even between guitars with identical specs there can be a huge difference, simple because no 2 pieces of wood are the same.....

I can make an Invader sound shrill and a Jazz turn into mud, depending on which guitar I put it in ;)

Fortunately, you don't have to be able to afford all of them. Just find the ones you think you'll like and get them. Then if you aren't satisfied, swap them out for something else. Just use the info you get from here and from the specs to help decide which ones to try, so you don't have to go through 7 or 8 pickups. Also, if you get them from Black Rose Custom, they'll help you find the right one if you aren't satisfied with the first ones.
