OK i went to the local shop where i get strings and stuff, the guy is super nice and helpful. We were talkin and during the conversation we talked about ES 335's and he said how he loves em and that he personaly owns two, a 1960's and a 1979. He showed me both , off course i was drooling , at the end he said "why dont you take one home play for a week and two and then return ". I was wow, so i took this one home 1979 , i am in LOVE guys, it plays like a dream. I tried it through 3 of my amps and it sounds fantastic, my question is
How much would be a 1979 all original mint 335???
Enjoy the porn

i'm not sure what the going price would be but i'm sure it would be in the new Price guide if someone has one... I'm guessing $2000-$2400 the guide would say... maybe more....

i also thought it was strange these things have tops made of plywood.. high quality plywood but still plywood

wow. I couldn't keep a guitar in its case and keep it that clean. Careful :laugh2:

The cool thing is, they've always had plywood tops, so getting a rockin' Epi version would seem to be a lot easier than getting a killer Epi LP.

BTW, I love my Sheraton so much, that now that I can afford a "real" 335, I don't see the need. :biglaugh:

I like the small block inlays and I agree with what was said earlier, that looks to be in great condition for its age.

HE HE , reputation my friend, even when i order stuff through him (pick ups, mic's etc) i dont have to put any deposit, i think overtime i have built some trust, lol.
But God forbid i break or damage his guitar , i'll pay for it without even having a second thought.

Beautiful guitar and yeah that thing looks super clean!

wait a min, ES335s have plywood tops? i think i like my 335 copy even more now, except mine is fully hollow.

Howdy,

That ES-335 also has a 3 piece Maple neck. My 1980 model is similar. If you like it, consider owning it; mine plays like butter. Good luck!

Is that a "335" or another model???

Not up on all my years & differences... but the 335 never had two 3-way toggles and a trapeze... maybe a 340 or something? There were lots of variations on theme over the years...

Re: Guys You Wont Believe This,es 335(pics)

If the money is the same, I personally would rather have a later model 335 with the dot inlays and the stud tailpiece; like the 2006 Antique Sunburst ES-335 I bought last year. I always had tuning problems with my guitars with the trapeze tailpiece.

That said, the guitar pictured is a very nice 335.

All the 335 variants had a laminated top, back, and sides. This wasn't Gibson being cheap, it was to avoid unwanted feedback, as a thick laminated body will tend to be less susceptible to said feedback than a guitar with traditional carved construction.

Great guitar. In that condition I would ask (if it were mine) about 3500$. I would not take less than 3K. Its a nice guitar, but I prefer the stop bar 335's. I have an 86 and its awesome. Have fun with it and be careful!

Yeah, sweet axe dude. If you've got the cash go for it. I'd say it goes for no less than $3,000. I agree with the others, I'd rather have a stop tail than the trapeze tail. The blocks are just 'okay'. I like 'em better than dots...

What's the second toggle on the cutaway do?

That is one beautiful piece of guitar right there

yeah i think its a 335. ive seen a bunch of late 70's models that have the extra switch and a few with the trapeze. a few years ago i coulda rattled off the years that everything changed but those brain cells were weak links and died off

Wow ! .........That's what I call a guitar !
If you buy it you'll not only have a great axe but you'll also have a piece of history, an object of art and a conversation piece.
I am envious !
