H/S Pickups for Custom Guitar (Demon & SSL-1) need a bit Help

Hi there,
i want to custom order an ESP guitar, a george lynch like model with a bolt on 2pc maple neck (22frets, 25.5" scale) on a mahagony body with ¼ inch Mapletop and a floyd rose. Amp i play is an old Marshall 2203.

The Pickups i wanted to choose is a SSL-1 lefty and a Screamin demon.

Now some questions came in my mind, hope somebody can help me.
First is the fact, that i want them custom:
The SH-12 (no TB) without logos, ½ inch legs and a braided cord like 80s true fashion and because the fact i don't need any coil splitting.

Will they wind me a SH-12 and a SSL-1 in the Custom Shop, if i ask, or are they giving me some stock SH-12 with a different baseplate etc ? Because i want the best possible quality from Seymour duncan.

The Second question is the Volume Pot i should choose (no tone pots): I don't know if i should choose 250k or 500k.
Usually i think if i use a 500k pot, a humbucker really comes to life, but the Singlecoil sounds sort of "metallic".
With a 250k pot often i think, nice the Singlecoil sounds awesome, but on the humbucker there could be a bit more attack and shininess.

Third question:
If i say something like, can you make me a Screamin Demon that sounds fine on 250k or can you make me a SSL-1 that sounds fine on 500k, which would be the better choice?

---

Anyways, maybe the Screamin demon sounds good on 250k? The Problem is, i really don't know exactly, because i only have a customized full shred in one guitar. My Fullshred has 6 hex screws and six normal screws and a 25 year old magnet from a broken JBJ.
It's in a Mapleneck (rosewood fretboard) bolt on guitar attached to a Mahagony body with a Locking trem.
So it should be like a hotter Screamin demon with a bit more compressed mids. And that thing (measures 13.8k) doesn't sound good with a 250k pot

I hope somebody can help me a bit or make a suggestion, that would be very awesome.

Thanks very much

Jerri

SD employees have stated there's no difference in quality between custom shop and standard line. If you want the pickup tweaked for your needs beyond what they'll do for a Floor Shop Custom, the Custom Shop is the way to go.

A lot of people believe there's a difference in tone from pickups wound by particular winders, so tend to go for CS wound pickups. But that's a different issue than construction quality or tolerance to specs, which may or may not have been what the SD employee was addressing about quality.

If you ask for it from the Custom Shop, it'll be wound by the Custom Shop.

The wind difference between a Full Shred and a Screamin' Demon makes for a bigger difference in tone than just one being hotter than the other. Full Shred is a very midrange-focused pickup, with a dip in highs, but with great presence. The Screamin' Demon is more like a growlier, deeper PAF but tight and with extra presence.

All mids tend to be exacerbated by a lower resistance (darker, less highs... emphasizes mids) pot.

Why an SSL-1? Modern guitars have a flatter radius, I'd think you'd want the SSL-2 for string balance.

Also, have you considered an STK-S4 Classic Stack Plus or STK-S7 Hot Vintage Stack Plus? STK-S4 is an SSL-2 with hum-cancelling that's virtually indistinguishable from the non-humcanceller, aside from the lack of hum. The Hot Vintage doesn't have a non-humcancelling equivalent in SD's lineup as far as I know, it's similar to an overwound SSL-2.

Ok, that's for shure nice to hear, that they are that good.

Yeah, the Full shred has much more mids, that's what i meant. Maybe i wrote the wrong things, because don't speak english speaker natively.

I wanted to swtich my customized fullshred for a long time, but i'm to lazy to do that :chairshot. But try to replace 6 of the polepiece screws from a fullshred with 6 normal (that it looks like a demon) and you'll notice, that the FS gets more presence and a tad rounder bass.

Why the SSL-1, hmm, i tried some different models in my neck guitar, the ssl-2, too, don't know if it's just me, the 1 is more imbalanced than the 2 for sure, but "shines" a bit more to my ears, so i took the ssl-1. I tried that, because i saw that on an old lynch Poster. And i tried that on a guitar that has 18" radius.

I have no hum issues, so i'm fine with a real singlecoil

And that's the point, the "custom guitar" would be an exact clone of George lynchs neon green Kamikaze .

Anyways, has a Screamin demon with 250k pot usually more "presence/highs" than a Full shred with 500k pot?

If that could someone answer, that would help me alot!

I don't know the answer on pots, other than 500K usually being preferred on the Full Shred. Nor which is better, to tweak the humbucker or the single for your pot.

Just wanted to make sure you'd considered the others, a fair number of people don't know that those models are minor variations on the SSL-1, but you already know what you want there.
