Hagstrom Guitars....

[Nostalgic Distortion]

I'm finding myself in need of a decent Semi-Hollow for not a crazy amount of money. In particular I'm interested in the Hagstrom Viking (newer MIK version) but the D2F is also kinda cool. I know a bit about them, like the truss design and composite ebony fretboards but I think I've only ever actually played one & it was a vintage model? Anyway, just looking for some opinions.....

I had an Ibanez full-hollow, & I just sold my Viking Baritone. Both were made in China, but there was a huge price difference. The Viking was good for me because of the long neck, but the Ibanez's craftsmanship was flawless, despite being less than half the price.

My friend has an Ibanez semi
His only complaint is the jumbo frets
Says it goes out of tune if he grips it too hard

Mine is, of course, my Epi Florentine
Not exactly a semi hollow voice

The viking is pretty good. I preferred it over the Epi Dot.

The Hagstrom neck is an immediate disqualifier for me. But that's just me.

I have a Hagstrom HJ800 and it sounds really nice and the neck is wonderful.
