Hair Problem

Howdy folks.

Since I switched to Blackouts (AHB-1s in both slots) I have had a small issue with just a little too much top end hair or fizz on my tone. I love the mids and bass I get from them so I don't think I'd want to switch. It didn't take me long to realize that if I turn my tone pot down about half way, voila. But I do hate always having to make sure the knob is in just the right place to suit me. Would the best remedy be to experiment with a different tone capacitor? I have a soldering iron and it would be no problem for me to do. It doesn't seem to matter what amp I'm plugged into I always have to turn the tone down the same amount to please my ears.

Thanx for any suggestions.

Rock on brothers and sisters!

Re: Hair Problem

What amplification are you using and how do you set its EQ controls?

I recommend if the hair offends he try manscaping. :p

On a more serious note, changing out the caps could yield an improvement. Experiment.

However, blackouts being low impedance you don't get that slight softening of the high end when using a mid cap cable with passive pickups.
