Hambuckers, Strats, and 250k pots - some questions

Hey Guys, had some questions I wanted to get some feedback on...

1. For a strat, which humbuckers would you say typically work well with 250k pots when using a HSS configuration? Certainly the JB would be one possibility, but which others?

2. I also have another guitar (a superstrat) that naturally has a really prominent upper midrange tone. It's very apparent even when played unplugged. It currently has a JB in the bridge. The JB boosts the frequencies that the guitar already has too much of. Way too honky, nasal, brittle and fatiguing to listen to. If I swap out the pots for 250k, would that adequately tame the resonant peak of the pickup, or would I be better served by dropping an AlNiCo 2 or UOA5 magnet into the JB? I'm also considering swapping it out altogether for a Custom Custom, but the guitar is already weak on the bottom end due to the fact it has a Floyd Rose. The Custom Custom looks like it doesn't produce much bass response...

Just to be clear, the two questions relate to two completely different guitars...

Thanks!

Re: Hambuckers, Strats, and 250k pots - some questions

1. I really, really like the Pearly Gates. It's like a humbucker and a Tele pickup had a baby, so it mixes really well with 250k potentiometers and vintage voiced singles. I ended up going the SSS way, but out of all the HSS setups I tried the PG/Klein '65/Klein '62 was one of my favorites ever.

2. I'd try 250k first, reason being that it's simply an easier job. The Custom Custom isn't weak on the low end. If anything, it packs plenty of mids, low-mids and low end. The problem is that it's squishy or soft and not chunk-chunk tight low end if that's what you're looking for. That's more regular Custom territory.

The JB was designed for 250k pots.
I've got this in my Anderson and love it

IMO, hambuckers are not Kosher - or Halal.
