Hamer 3 knob tone control question

Greetings, all. New to this forum and wandered in specifically to ask this question. The patient is an import Hamer archtop, with Hamer's dreaded 3 knob setup (2 vol, master tone). All electonics upgraded including the ubiquitous JB/Jazz pickup set. I nearly always run the JB wide open on the tone control, but very often prefer the neck Jazz with some top rolled off. The ideal option would be to install dual concentric tone controls, but for now I'd like to rewire in a manor that has the tone control affecting (effecting?) the neck pickup only. Guitar is wired exactly as it appears on the 3 knob, 2PU, 3 way, diagram on the SD site. Can someone explain how to do this rewire or, better yet, show me with a modified diagram?

Re: Hamer 3 knob tone control question

Welcome to the forum.

To make the tone control work on just one pickup, trace the tone pot input cable back to wherever it is presently connected. Desolder that joint. Resolder the cable to the input lug of the neck PU volume pot.

Another option is to add a DP3T on/on/on assign switch. This would allow you to choose which pickup(s) get filtered when the pot is turned.

I'm at work right now, posting on a mobile telephone. I cannot create a diagram until tomorrow.

I think that might be it, Artie. Thanks! Can I get a second opinion before I fire up the soldering iron?
