Hamer? Imports?

Ok, so I bit the bullet and decided to check out Hamer. I haven't been able to play anything yet, but I like what I see and hear about. The Studio in particular is very appealling and looks like it could compliment my SG pretty well with a similar scale length, number of frets, and weight. The only problem is that they tend to be expensive.

An easy solution to this, however, is to get one of their imported models. The one that appeals to me the most is the SATQ Sunburst Quilt model in black. The finish looks pretty nice as does the abalone binding. Does anyone have any experience with these? What should I expect?

Re: Hamer? Imports?

I would consider a used Studio off of Ebay. The imports are good as far as foreign guitars are concerned, but they're just not as good as the American models. A good US model can be had for less than $700 if you're patient.

That is true but the quality between the Imports and the USA models are very close. I decided to buy the Hamer Standard Import, the Sunburst Quilt was what got me into wanting the Hamer Import. I liked it alot, by far it beats most guitars in that price range. The most outstanding difference is the Pickups the pups in the USA made are Duncans and the Imports have Duncan Designs. Also the USA have a better quality wood, but for 420 bucks it floats my boat. It is so much better then my MIM strat!
