Hand made, one off... you've never seen anything like it!

Here it is - a genuine partscaster, all handmade but not by me! I'm no Kramersteen, I bought the body on ebay got the neck on a Guitarfetish factory sale it has a Gibson 490T with an A8 to liven it up a bit along with a coil tap... The body was sanded and finished by a friend before being assembled with great difficulty by a local luthier friend. Its currently tuned to an E chord for slide though that may change:)

Pretty Dang Sweet! I love the grain on both the front and back.

Very interesting and I agree, really nice wood grain on both sides! Enjoy!

Cool Shabby Chic. I bet that sounds and plays pretty good.

I couldn't handle that neck mounting hole on display,

Otherwise it looks cool.

Body style is kind of reminiscent of the Dean Sledgehammer bass.

I always wondered why more guitars didn't have a jack on the back. My Steinbergers and Brian Moore do, and it is a great idea.

Well spotted - there is a jack socket on the back and the front!

Just for the record, the neck is a Guitar Fetish Factory Sale cheapo special with the logo on it that says J&D Guitars, cost around 20 something bucks- the hole you notice is filled, maybe not quite up to your standard though! The body came from ebay for 30 something bucks and a friend cleaned it up and put the finish on it for me. I just selected all the parts... I couldn't put a guitar together like you do!!!

Re: Hand made, one off... you've never seen anything like it!

How is the balance? It looks like it could be neck heavy.

Re: Hand made, one off... you've never seen anything like it!

The neck mounting screw on the bass side, nearest the headstock, looks perilously close to the edge of the neck heel.

It's difficult to tell from the pics ... is the bridge recessed into the body to some degree, or does the neck sit high in the pocket ? (i.e. are the strings quite high above the face of the guitar ?)

I like the body shape a lot!
And the idea of locating the jack on the control cavity rather than cutting another hole in the body for it is really cool. Pointed up at the strap button, it's positioned well for looping the cord around the button.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is the way the neck fits the body. But I understand you got a neck on the cheap and had a luthier make it work. Actually the neck joint on the body looks cool. It's just obvious that neck wasn't made for this body.

Agreed. It looks like only one bolt has a solid bite on wood, the other 3 might be a credit-card's thickness away from the edge. No way I'd trust that thing.

On one hand, I'd say the pocket was angled to work with the bridge, but on the other hand, he did say it's set up for slide, and judging by the neck bolt hole locations, I'd say no.
