Something Cool
Man I missed the feeling of unwrapping the last trade and feeling really good about it.
Ever since I started playing I wanted a Rickenbacker 4001 or 4003. Mostly because of Roger Glover. Later the opportunity never came up with guitar playing and realizing that Roger is maybe not the best idol for my bass playing, and that his sound was in reality crap before he went Vigier.
Now I ditched that pretty Warwick and got a Sunburst 4003.
So nice. The whole thing just creams quality and craftmanship. Perfect finish, and I mean not bulletproof plastic perfect. Thin, flat, perfect. Sustain is endless. The fretboard (under lacquer) is a thing of beauty. Perfect balance heavy enough and thin. And the case, too. 4 latches that you can just close without hooking them in or messing around. I'm glad I didn't listen to the Rick bashers.
I really needed this. Got a bit frustrated with bass in particular. The collection gets a lot cleaner now.
I also have an interesting parallel to draw between the Rickenbacker 4003 and the O.Z. Ultraleggera wheels I'm going to get once I figure out how wide tires I can take in the front. But that's more for when I go off the deep end.
