Happy New Bass Day to me! (w/pics, of course!)

Ibanez SR500: Mahogany body, bolt on 5 pc. jatoba/bubinga neck, rosewood fretboard. Bartolini MK 1 pups & 3 band eq. Got it for $489 today at GC, MF.com lists it at $550.

So far, I am loving this thing. I've been thinking about getting a four string for a couple of years now, as my five string Schecter is HUGE & is a bit weird for the tuning I'm currently using. This neck is so small, it feels like I'm cheating!

I totally did!

The electronics are different from my Schecter, more so than I'd expected. Putting any of the eq pots at 100% overdrives all of the bass amp models I normally use (GuitarPort). These Bartonlinis are MUCH hotter than the Schecter's pups; instead of maxing everything on the guitar & then turning it down as I needed, I have to set each on its midpoint detent & tweak it from there, & tweak it very slightly. Small adjustments make big changes. Even the pickup blend gives me more tonal variation than I'm used to.

mmmmmmm bartolini :32: i almost bought an SR not sure which one, but it had bartolinis in it so it was a good one, with the curved body and everything, in this cool pearl satin yellow, i dug on it, but iw as in highschool and my mom wouldn tlet me get it... i would gladly drop $200 on one now if i could find one that cheap.

Oh man, I could never use a six string bass. I flat-out do not have the hands for it.
