What difference does it make? It does work, does it not?
I think this was more of a, "Just out of curiousity...." type of question, as he indicates nothing of the pickup's functionality.
I think its more of a "I think I may have a used pickup and want to complain about paying the price of a new one" thing which where the the comment came from. All those 21 day returns go somewhere. If it wasn't damaged, and functions fine, what difference does it make? That all I am posing for consideration
Thanks guys, and both of you are correct. I think I bought a used pickup, but at the price of a new one. The bobbin looked mint, but the insulation was neatly removed and there was a piece of solder on the insulation. Shouldn't be a issue, but there was no 21 day warranty card and since I didn't care for the pick up, I was stuck. I ended up trading it to a friend, but still at a loss.
You don't need a card for the 21 day return. Just call Duncan and get an RMA. Secondly, I think its incredibly unfair to have no hesitation about using the 21 day policy and then take issue with what you paid for a fully functional mint condition pickup that was returned on that policy. If it was in like new condition whats the problem? It was sold as new and will be warrantied as such. That21 day policy cuts both ways. A lot of places won't honor the 21 day policy because they do have problems reselling it.
This is exactly what my point is, Thanks Martin. When you open the box up and you start to see these little flaws, and then you notice the 21 day card not being in the box, it should raise a flag as this may not be brand new. It's not that I had planned on returning the questionable pup, its that I was mis-lead.You are absolutely incorrect. It is completely unethical to sell a returned, used pickup as new. When someone takes advantage of the 21 day exchange, they can either exchange it at the place of purchase for another BRAND NEW pickup, or get an RMA# from SD direct and get a BRAND NEW pickup from the factory.
It's not that I had planned on returning the questionable pup, its that I was mis-lead.
Insulation removed from wires? We're talking about the leads, right? It's just old school pushback wire, isn't it? What's the big deal?
