Has anyone tried a Alnico 3 custom?

I already have a custom. What does/will it sound like compared to a CC?, It wud be cool to have a custom custom with tighter lows and a little less mids. Do magnets cost alot of money and time to replace?

You might do a search for Doc Barlo's and/or Stratdeluxer's posts, narrowing it down to "magnet". Also, check the "Vault" - I think there is either a link or an actual tutorial on swapping magnets - it's easy and fun to do

I have a Custom 5 in an alder frankenstrat and tried an alnico 3 magnet in it for about 2 hours. The C-5 has really strong bass for me, but the C-3 lost the chime in the highs and was muddier to my ears (some might say "warmer").

That said, I love the Alnico 2 Antiquities in my Heritage 535, so it all depends on the guitar and your rig.

a custom 2 vs custom 3 clip!??
