When I bend up a couple steps it goes flat! something cancels out the note :( i think it's maybe fret wear? It's right on my 15th *fret high E that's a G..it plays fine but when I bend up bout a step and a half it mutes it out...any ideas?

What's the position of your bending finger on the fret? Is it in the middle (center of the fret)? If it is try moving you fingers closer to fret wire (to the right) and then bend.

Sounds like you have a high fret further up the neck.

Wait, the note goes flat, or it is muted? A dead note during a bend is usually a high fret as Tex mentioned, and can be solved by raising the action a bit on that saddle/side of the bridge. A note that goes flat is another issue entirely, and I would know less about the causes and solutions for that.

It's very likely to be the next fret (the fret just after) towards the bridge..usually when it frets out like that that's what the problem is ..the very next fret is high-ish.

Shouldn't this cause some fret buzz prior to muting?

I think not if it's very slightly raised? ...not really sure why (what the science behind it is lol) I just find that it's most often the next fret when notes fret out like that on bends..

Re: Having a problem with a fret when I bend...

its caused my the action being too low and the string you are bending touching higher frets due to the radius of the fingerboard (or possibly uneven frets also). Raise your bridge saddle until you can bend as far as you need to without "fretting out".

hi,
you could have the guitar set up by a guitar tec, they do a thing where they level all the frets, i had a guitar set up like this, it comes back sounding great, like a new guitar, strongly recommend this,

all the best, bluesfloyd,

1. What find of guitar is it?
2. What is the FB radius?
3. Simple solution is raise the action just a bit.
