HB in a telecaster bridge position. APH-1? opinion?

Hi,
cyclically I get tired of the stock bridge telecaster, even if I have a Broadcaster for tele it's way too ear piercing, although it cuts through the mix.
So I'd like to put again a HB. Once I had a JB but it was... a JB, with THAT high mids spike, and it was a bit loud.
I want to keep the standard tele neck (I have a duncan vintage one), I'm still in love with it, with its Jeff Buckley rhythm sound, and I'd like to keep the 250K pots.
I think a vintage output HB would fit right and I have a AHP-1 around in the drawer unused, BUT before I'll start the whole thing and start searching for a tele HB bridge, any opinion about it? would it be too smooth and/or too thin?

thank you

If you have it, I'd try it. I love that pickup, so I am probably biased, but it should smooth out any problems you have with a normal Tele bridge pickup.

if you have the pup, id throw it in. might sound great but ive never tried that pup with 250k pots and a tele neck pup so cant say. i know ive put a pgb in the bridge of a strat with neck and middle singles and been happy with the result

I have used the APH-1b in strats and teles with 250k controls. I suggest to use 250k volume and 500k tone. 250k volume and tone will work too. It just means a slightly reduced brightness and reduced definition under higher gain.

To me the APH-1b is a bit smooth sounding unless it is raised close to the strings. I adjust the height to get the tone i want. However it may end up with more output level than you need to balance with the tele neck p/u.
