I vote '59. A '59 neck pickup on a clean sounding amp with the treble up just a bit is exactly what I think of when I hear the term glassy. Seth Lovers aren't a good candidate for this . . . they have a mid-rangey kind of honk to them.

59 or jazz, I agree with GuitarStv about the Seth not being what i would call glassy

Hahahaha So far, we've had half the Duncan inventory recommended in this thread. I love it!

I'll vote 59, and maybe Jazz.

Re: HB recommendation: most glassy sounding Duncan?

Well, interesting. I have the 59 in the bridge and it is indeed the glassiest sounding pickup i had to date. I really love it. The first time i heard it on Tribal Tech's "Illicit".

Just wanted to now if there are more options.

A difficult question though: I need "glassy" but at the same time screaming tightness in the upper registers. The 59 can deliver OK in this department. How about the other candidates? Does the Jazz sound weak in the upper registers?

Re: HB recommendation: most glassy sounding Duncan?

I have no experience with a jazz, but my '59 has an "acoustic" sort of quality to it, which reminds me of an acoustic guitar to an extent on a clean setting.

I feel EXACTLY the same

Jazz.

In fact, those are maybe the most glassy non-custom shop pickups out there.

Jazz set.

It's almost a shame SD marketed the JB/Jazz as a set, because the Jazz set sounds more like a matching set. Everyone makes the assumption that the Jazz's are trebley or weak, when they're not. Don't forget they're categorized as 'Progressive' not Vintage.

They're crystal clear, tight, natural sounding, and sound equally good on clean or gain.

Re: HB recommendation: most glassy sounding Duncan?

OK, but is the SH-2 punchy like an SH-1? From the chart, it has less resistance, more highs, and a higher peak - should have more single coil properties than the '59, right?

Re: HB recommendation: most glassy sounding Duncan?

this is going to sound odd, but the invader neck model-it's in the very low 7k range. this is also going to sound odd, but go listen to the comparison clips on the site. compared to other neck pickups with the same settings, it's got a much more glassy sound.

A SH-55N with an A3 mag is as "glassy" as it gets.

HTH,
