HBucker for my Strat

Hi guys

I'm buying a HB for my Strat bridge,62 re issue Rosewood fretboard.

I play through a Tonelab which has more than enough brightness,so Im looking for a HB that will fatten up my tone, but a pickup that is not too bright....something that has tame highs.

Please make a suggestion.

I did a trade with someone on this forum,I sent him my SD Distortion and he was supposed to send me his TB14 for my Strat, problem is it never arrived and his father threw away the confirmation slip,so I lost a pickup and Im pretty pissed about it.....thats why I'm now buying a new pup.

Custom Custom. That's the one. Lots of mids for that vowel like lead tone I like...very smooth treble. I use it in my Hamer Monoco, but I use the 59 Trembucker in my Strats. The '59 is a better match, IMO, when combined with vintage output Strat single coil pickups. Lew

What do you play (styles/bands)?

That's a darn shame, who was that guy and have you listed him in the Bad Trader Alert section of the Trading Post. You should! People like that, are people I would like to be warned about

Re: HBucker for my Strat

Thanks Lew.....so you're saying the Custom Custom for my Strat Bridge,or the 59.?

Neeradj.....on my Strat I play mainly Gilmour Bluesy type of stuff......but I find I use my Neck Pup(Di Marzio Virtual Vintage) most of the time.....so the Bridge Humbucker is mainly for hi gain lead or rhythm type of playing.....Bon Jovi kind of tone.

This is the tone I'm getting from my Strat neck pup into the Tonelab.....which I'm very happy with.

The reason I havn't yet put the guy up onto the Bad Trader Alert section is because what if he's telling the truth,if he is then I become the bad guy....so I'll take the loss.

Which to go with is your call. :) But for the tone you originally described I'd say go for the Custom Custom. Very smooth highs and thick vowel-like mids. Makes it easy to get everything from Clapton/Cream to EVH like tones.

I don't have too much experience with humbuckers/strats, but I played a home-made strat with a Seth Lover in the bridge through a Mesa Rectoverb once. That was a wonderful, wonderful sound.

The CC will match well with the Dimarzio Virtuals. BTW, what do you have in the middle position. When I was playing with the VV's, I had a Blues at the neck, 54 in the middle, and Solo at the bridge. The 54 was very cool with nice sparkle and chime by itself and good quack combined with the other pickups.

The CC is a good choice for that and other 80s hard rock tones. The CC has lots of personality and push.
