Re: HC Reviews: Have you written a "good" one?

I use the HC reviews a lot, I find them very helpful generally. I tend not to pay attention to the average scores they get over all but read through until I find a review written by someone who knows what they're talking about (They're pretty easy to find)

I will post on the site in the future but, like a lot of people here by the sounds of it, I feel I'm not yet knowledgable enough to be helpful. I don't think I have the experiance or the sophisicated hearing needed to post something that could be beneficial to someone else. We're all read reviews posted by idiots who are more of a hinderance than any help. As soon as I stop being an idiot I'll start posting. Promise.

I have never written a review on HC, but I should.

Now that I am pretty happy with almost all of my gear, I need to pass on some experience.

Super 90. I've had them for around 6-7 years and I'm still on a honeymoon with it. :)

Yep, I have a Z-90 in my Grosh and it sounds great! Not perfectly like a p90 because it's a bit thicker and fuller, but it definitely crunches like a good p90.

Sorry for getting :offtopic:

Let's send it careening way off!

The HD Super 90 in my Tele has been the best bridge Tele pickup I've found that does what I want it to do- sound like a P-90 in a Tele bridge and look sort of natural back there.

I haven't tried the Z-90s or any of the HD P-90s. I've gone though a bunch of P-90s trying to find the right one for me. Ironically enough, the Duncan Custom is perfect for me.

Re: HC Reviews: Have you written a "good" one?

I used to worry that my reviews were mostly on the "8 - 10" range, but I had to realize that I did most of the "weeding out" before I brought "whatever-it-was-that-I-was-reviewing" home, so I SHOULD like it. After that, I concentrated more on describing the characteristics of the tone/feel because I figured that was more helpful for wsomeone trying to make their own decision. I actually find the "pans" a bit more helpful than the "glowing praises."

Re: HC Reviews: Have you written a "good" one?

I've written reviews on most of my (ex) gear, but just like Gearjoneser I didn't review my Pauls, Teles or Strats because I felt like it would just be looked at like another leaf in the rainforest. These were Fenders and Gibsons by the way, I would review a model of these guitars if they were from a more exclusive brand.

I do believe I've helped people, and I've learned some reviewers really hate you when disagreeing with them even if I elaborated my opinion. I've gotten most emails about the Powerball, I've gotten lots of replies from people who were looking for high gain amps but weren't able to make a choice and thankful comments on my review. This made me feel like I could really help and that's my reason for posting there.
