He Shoots, He Scores!! - New 4x12 Cabinet Day

Like I need another 4x12 cabinet, right? lol Well, I was on Craigslist the other day, and saw a guy selling A Blackstar Series One 412B. These are the top of the line Blackstar cabinets which have Celestion Vintage 30's in them, are oversized (H 32.95"/W 29.72"/D 14.02"), and is the cabinet that is made for my Blackstar Series One 104EL34 Head. These cabinets originally went for $1100 I believe, but I think they can be had for $900 now new. Of course, y'all know I can never turn down a good deal. I wrote to the guy a couple of days ago and got no response. He had it listed for $300, and that blew my mind. I figured he had sold it, and that's the reason that I had not heard back from him. Anyways, he replied back to me yesterday and said my email had gone to his spam folder. He was all excited that I had written to him, and was interested in the cabinet. Now, Gearjoneser and I had spoken the day before about the cabinet, and I told him that I was going to offer the guy $250 just for the hell of it to see what his response would be. Well hell, when the guy wrote back to me, he said he'd sell it to me for $250 if I came and picked it up from him. I was like "HELL YEAH!!", because it was only a 20 minute drive down the interstate. So.........look at this freakin' beast!! Pictures coming in just a few.

Compared to the Marshall 1960B, which is on casters as well.

Compared to the Blackstar, not on casters, but is the same size as a Marshall 1960 Cabinet.

So, I guess my plans now are............Use both the Blackstar HTV412's with my Eleven Rack in Stereo since they have Celestion Seventy 80's in them. Those are a more evenly/non colored speaker per se, so I think they will go good with that setup. I'll use the new Series One Blackstar 4x12 with my Series One 104EL34 Head, which is what that that head and cabinet were meant for.....being designed around each other and all. I'm not a fan of my Marshall JVM410H through Vintage 30's, so now I can keep it and it's cabinets designated together. I was using the Marshall 1960 cabinets with my Eleven Rack, but now I think I'll be set with my aforementioned statement.

Congrats on the amazing score Jolly... Am I seeing this right: at this point you're starting to go 2 full-stacks "deep"? Man, and I'm the one thinking that my 2x12 is plenty! :D

Hey, John. How would you compare your Jet City 4x12 to the others? I use a 2000s-ish Marshall 1960B at the rehearsal studio a lot.

Woah! Man, a deal that good and I start to wonder if the stuff is stolen . . .

Well, first and foremost, their size trips me out. They are the same specs as Soldano cabinets, but it trips me out how tiny they are. They are 28″Hx28″Wx14″D, and are front loaded. They are pretty good cabinets for what they are, but they sound a little "bubbly" to me if that makes sense. However, I have only run my Jet City HDM100 Head through them. Now, I happen to love G12 T-75's which are in the Marshall cabinets. I might be the only guy that likes them, but they do it for me. I'm guessing that is what is in the cabinets you use at the rehearsal studio. The Jet Citys have some type of cheaper Eminence speaker in them. They're not horrible, but they are a great cabinet to buy (can be had for $200 or so on Ebay) especially if you got some Eminence or WGS speakers for a tradeout. However, Michael Sweet can make those cabinets sound fantastic!! But, I've always thought Stryper sounded great!!

Well......lol. I handed the guy the $250. He helped me load it in the back of my truck. As soon as we did that I said "Man, you know this is an $1100 cabinet don't you?". He said "oh yeah, I know, a buddy of mine gave it to me.......he got it for free". I asked him about that, and he said that his friend is the guitar player for Luke Bryan, and Blackstar gave it to him. So, it's a win win situation for everybody. It's really no different than me getting the $2200 Blackstar 104EL34 head and the $600 Blackstar HTV412 cabinet for $1000. That dude got it for from Korg, I think (the Blackstar US Distributor) because he was Slayer's Road Manager. I said the same thing to him after I gave him my money. I was like "You know this is a $2200 head don't you? I guess it's good to live in the Nashville area.:) Hell, I've even sold some guitars to guy that play for famous country acts. Everybody likes a good deal!!:)

Thaat made me laugh like hell!! But to answer your question, No, and yes, it is two deep at the moment, but I'm gonna drag the other two Blackstar HTV cabinets in the living room later.

Holy crap..... I thought I was going OTT with 4 - 4x12's! One hell of a steal mate.

Sorry about the phone battery, going to get a new one tomorrow! Hope to catch up soon, until then knock yourself out with that back line. Actually you could rent it out to touring bands! Ha ha

Congrats on the cab deal.

I got a good laugh at the reverb explosion effect on the Stryper video. I'm naming it the Orange Drop. :D
