Headphone Question.....

....If, say, a preamp doesn't have a headphone jack, can you plug the headphones into a line out without screwing it up?

I was thinking of this as the wife was yelling at me playing last night. :laugh2:

Re: Headphone Question.....

Line level won't be loud enough. You will need to go from line out into a headphone amp.

Re: Headphone Question.....

Thanks guys....I might try plugging into my SansAmp PSA-1 to see if it works. I don't have it racked at the moment (I was thinking of building a amp head type box for it to sit atop the Power Engine) & is in an armoire in my bedroom. Just easier to play in there instead of messing around with the actual amps.

I'll try that or just stick with the Korg PXR I've got and never use......T.O....one of these days I'll figure it out, I promise!!! :)

Re: Headphone Question.....

What you can do is run a line out from your amp, into your stereo amp (via a connecting lead - you can make / maybe buy one with the right connectors), then use the headphone jack on the stereo.

I ran my guitar through the stereo when I was a young kid with no amp.

You can also pick up really cheap headphone practice units from Nobels I think. Doubt they sound great, but may be an option.
