Hello, Forum Newbie Here.............EVH PU's.....

I'm seriously considering replacing my PU's in my axe........

I've got a Tyler Studio Elite................

Right now I've got a JB (Trembucked) in the bridge, which is a great sounding pickup but not the sound I'm looking for, from everything I've read it sounds like the Duncan EVH delivers the goods I need.

That's the easy part, the hard part is I've got 2 Dimarzio VV single coils in the middle and rhythm position. Pretty damn good sounding pickups but they have no "voodoo" very nonresponsive when it comes down to getting some interaction with amplifiers, harmonics don't jump out easily, etc.....good sound but their "behavior" sucks............

Is this kind of problem typical of most noiseless designs?

If so I'm willing to go with classic single coils hum -n- all, the voodoo is worth it in spades........

I'm seriously considering some Kinman Woodstock AVn 69's............for noiseless and I'm looking at Fralin's for standard single coils..........

Now to finally get to my question............(I'm a windbag).............

How do I make sure that the EVH and (Kinmans OR Fralins) will match well together?

Thanks in advance,

Not to sure about the EVH pup, as for the other to a couple of hot stacks or cool rails would rock. Also a JBjr and Lil59 would work well too.

I'd look at the Kinmans, as well as the Bill Lawrence L-280S model. Supposedly, it's one of the very best noiseless single coils ever made. I'm building a Strat out of parts at the moment, and I'm going to probably put one of these in the neck. If you want traditional single coils, try a Duncan Alnico II Pro in the middle and an SSL-1 in the neck.

As to how the pickups will sound together, there's really no way to tell until everything is installed. I'd be willing to bet you'll be happy with the results though, the EVH is a great pickup, and so are all the single coils I mentioned. In general, I try to avoid any major output differences between pickups. I know a lot of people use high output pickups in the bridge and low output pickups in the neck, but I prefer to keep all the pickups pretty close as far as output goes. I always use vintage style pickups in the neck, along with vintage-medium output pickups in the bridge.
