Help : Creating a playing and recording environment on computer (PC)

Hello,

i'm trying to play and record through my computer. I have high quality speakers. I just need to know what will i need to have a good quality sound ?

I was thinking about buying a new soundcard and a Line 6 pod 500x. I have a zoom g3x but even with the asio drivers there us a lot of clipping there is nothing to do x)... The quality of the sounds doesn't feel original.

Oh by the way if you can give me some advices about recording programs and devices ( I spared around 750$).

That, my friend, is the door to a very wide, and very deep subject area!

Sound On Sound magazine (print and online) have covered options in depth over the years and I would start your reading there. I did a quick search and this came up:

The good thing with SOS is that it has expert advice then also reviews and side-by-side product shoot-outs.

Well, the POD HD is also a computer interface, so if you have that and a set of good recording monitors, you are set. You can also buy a USB or firewire interface (I am using firewire right now) and plug the guitar directly into that, and use software to sculpt your tones. But yeah, this is a *huge* subject. In short: you never have enough money to get what you want.
