I have a Dirmarzio humbucker with a 3 wires. Their website doesn't show the wiring for it. It has a black, white and bare wire. I am trying to put it in my Epi Dot which has 2 wires. Please help me with how to wire this one.

Thanks

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

I am at a loss, I tried the black/bare to ground and the white/bare to ground and both sound very thin, help. I am pretty sure that one of them goes with the bare wire, because I get a 7.59 ohm reading on one of the combos and a 7.56 on the other

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

The bare, obviously, is the ground.

The white or the black is for phase. In other words, if you choose the white to be hot, the black should be grounded. If you find this wiring causes the other pickup to be out of phase with the DiMarzio, reverse the DiMarzio's black and white wires.

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

What DiMarzio is it? Did you put it neck? - i think thats the place were it should be. I can be thin in the bridge that way.
The question what color together with the bare should be decided when it is on middle position of the pickup selector.

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

it could be an old Dual Sound. Either the white or the black could be the "link" of the two coils.
With your meter, check between each of the wires and the bare. If you get a reading from one of them that is closer to what you think it should be, you're found your hot lead. The other would be used to ground out one of the coils to split.

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

The bare wire is the chassis ground and there wont be a path between either black or white to chassis.

Try the white as hot and ground the black and the plain wire. You should get an ohms reading across black and white.

Re: Help, Dirmarzio Question

take a picture and email it to dimarzio support and they'll send you a custom wiring diagram
