Help hooking up external cab to vetta combo

I recently won, but have not yet received in the mail, a vetta combo (updated to vetta II) off of ebay and I want to hook up my mesa 2x12 cab to it to run one amp from the vetta to the internal speakers and one to my mesa cab. My mesa cab is mono at 8 ohms. The problem is the vetta manual I downloaded from Line 6 is confusing the he!! out of me. Here is what it says:

If, on the other hand, you have a mono speaker cabinet with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms, you should hook it up like this.

With this wiring, you can only use Vetta’s Split mode. You can, of course, run an 8 ohm or greater cabinet wired like this, but we can’t guarantee that you’ll get the best balance of level between the amp and extension cab because Vetta’s left and right power amps will be loaded unevenly. You’ll run into the same uneven loading problem if you try and run an 8 ohm cabinet wired like this in Normal mode.

Should I just attach my cab to the vetta and put the selector switch to 4 ohms, even though it an 8 ohm cab, or set it to 8 Ohms. Or am i going to be srewed and have a kicka$$ external cab that doesn't work right in stereo with the vetta?:yell:
Here's a link to the manual if that helps:http://line6.com/data/l/c0a8090bee7...ation/pdf/Vetta II Users Manual - English.pdf It's on page 4-44
