Help me buy a new guitar!

Ok, main guitar is an ibanez RG, so i got the shreadding covered, now i want another guitar but im really not sure of what to get, so much choice! I want something a bit more classic, so this points me towards fender, gibson, ricks, those sorts of guitars. My ibanez has high-gain p/ups, so id like something a bit mellower, and maybe even hollow body.

Basically i just want somethign that will have a different, mellower sound and i have around £600 ( $1000-ish???) to spend.

so, any ideas??? cheers.

Strat (Highway), Teles, G&L ASAT, Tokai (LP, strat/teles), Gibson LP Studio.

I would go for a strat possibly one with SSH combination or just get SSS and then do some pup changes?

Thanks guys, im still looking at all the ones you suggested, but i really like the idea of a used gibson es-335, but im not sure if my buget will stretch that far, but it will probably be either that or a american tele.

If the budget won't stretch for a Gibson 335 then get a good copy any put some SD's in it.

I've got a Tokai 335 with Seths and its just great. Marinblues has one too have a search and listen to his awesome clips.

OR... an es-333, instead (used, of course). They're cheapeer than the es-335s, by a long shot. I personally like this:

I love that guitar. It's so ... umm... err... pretty? Sure, it's an epiphone, but it looks sweet.

I like the Hamer Newport hollowbody, you may be able to get one used for around $1000.

1. Used Hamer Artist with a set of 59's or Jazz/JB or Seth/Custom Custom

2. Used or new Fender Jimmie Vaughn Strat and a set of Duncan Antiquity Texas Hots

So many choices.....if you're wanting a hollowbody, you should look into the Schecters as far as new guitars and a Gibson es-137 or es-333 for used hollowbodies.

Check out the MIM fender 72 tele thinline reissue. Light, semihollow, with mellow, clean sounding humbuckers. Right in your price bracket.

Tokai 335 copies are very nice guitars.

thanks guys, so many guitars so little money! Atm it looks like i am gonna go for a gibson es 333 or used 335(if i can get one for the money), or if not im definately going to have a good look into thinline telecasters, hopefully one of my local guitar shops will have one in for me to play.

Since you already have a high-gain humbucker equipped guitar, you should consider a strat. I just picked up a MIM Strat yesterday and I'm really enjoying it.

Well i would buy a Jackson Charvel its a sweet guitar it plays well, and the feeling of the neck is awsome, mine got Seymour duncun live wire Metal pick ups and man it kicks ass... so.. look at the charvelles too

never liked the look of les pauls much, but just because of the amount of ppl praising them here i guess i shld try one out, maybe you lot will convert me yet!

Maybe a Used LP Gothic will hit you perfect. Sound great (like Les Pauls, of course), and have something to the cosmetics, a certain "total understatement", that I personally find cool :smoker:
